Apma is spoken mainly in the central part of Pentecost Island, Vanuatu. Due to emigration there are also communities of Apma speakers on the Vanuatu islands of Efate (in Port Vila), and Espiritu Santo.

The Suru Kavian dialect of Apma is a small, endangered, and very distinctive dialect spoken in the area to the north and east of Namaram.
