Dungan is spoken in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. It is the only variety of the Chinese language which is not normally written using Chinese characters.
The Gansu dialect of Dungan is used mainly in Karakol and Osh, Kyrgyzstan.
The Shaanxi dialect of Dungan is used in Kazakhstan and Fergana, Uzbekistan.
